Moped Racing 2002

Well the race is on the in 8th Sept 02. We had 3 months to get our peds together. If you want to do the same then contact the Grampian Transport Museum in Alford

Talk to Mike Ward on 019755 62292 and he will send you details of how to get involved!!!!    Go on its great fun.

So far we have our old faithful C90 Black bomber, H100(used to be an MT50) and so far we have a couple of C50's and a secret weapon (wait to see the transformation of two perfectly good starter peds)!!!!. We will make the rostrum yet!

Its time!!!! Get out your balls and race a ped!!!

We were teams 2,3,4 & 5    Support Your Local Breakers!!!!!

Our four teams were phenomenal!  Only Alan got hurt. What's a broken arm, wrist and 2 bones in the hand. He laughed it off. We raced for revenge!!!

Here is the full rundown blow by blow account.......................

Well the day arrived & we had assembled a motley crew of 4 shop peds and Big Allans guest H100 Field Rat Zilla Bros.

JP was the team virgin as he had never seen or raced at Alford before. Instructions were given on tactics, Timbo, taking on the ol MT 50mmmm. I'm pushin the C90 racer to the limits. Gary made the early round but wimped out for the final and left his 'friend' to take the beating in the final. Ryan (wait to see his antics on Police Camera Action!!!) was his usual wild self. He comes all the way from Cornwall just to race in our team. However, it looks as though the Law has finally caught up with him. So look out Ryan, Mr. Big is gonna get you!!!!!.  The honour of best crash goes to JP who tried to take out the crowd with his flying moped trick. Triple salco & a back twist!. Had the crowd applauding and JP an enormous bruise. Welcome to Racing JP. To his defense it was a 125 twist and go but the brakes were very iffy. Graham had a great race too and no big spills but the mud he went home covered in, was worth the hell Jean gave the pair of them and made them strip out side before letting them in. Si was a racing fool and making top pace but when the zilla was crashed by Allan, the poor sod broke his arm in three places. Still he did not cry!!!!!. Then the 'Rat' threw a chain. Our twist'n'gos were getting stuck in the mud but the C90 was keeping up well but the MT went down hard. Totally knacked, but totally enthusiastic to do it again.

Valerie did a great barbeque and the soup was well needed as the weather was a bit crap, but under the gazebo was nice'n'dry. The sun did shine on us though the track was like glue in some bits and all the tarmac turned slippery, muddy & down right dangerous. It was great. Bring it on!!!!. Oh did I say that there are tyre chicanes everywhere and the bales felt solid at 50mph

The race was won by a 50cc moped Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh. The mud was 2 feet deep and the corner at the fire engine was down to 3 feet wide. It jus crawled along. I think we wuz robbed  of laps cos our #'s were obscured. Gotta do something about that!!!

Here are the pictures from the event.
