Once again Sept 7th loomed close. We sent in 4 applications and were entered as #'s 7,8,9 & 10. 7 was the C90 with a big carb and new secret weapon (extra tank full of oil plumbed into the exhaust header). 8 was a yam 50 ped with no power and no hope but was used as a good blocker. 9 was a good prospect this year as the engine was finally welded in place (every year this threw its chain)(H100 into MT50 chassis). 10 was another H100 machine but its g/box is suspect but it'll live again. Si and his crew were supporting us on #27 but it was dog slow.
The riders were me (Dek), Gary, Alan (back from bust arm last year) Si, Chris, JP, Jed, Bill(1st Time), Gary and Chris from the trial riders.
We got a 2nd place!!!!!. After all these years we got a 2nd
Val made a huge spread for the bar-b-que, soup, chicken, beef, sausage an ribs and we even fed the Train Drivers. Bill and the rest of the crew of the museum did a great job on a great day (The sun shone on us all day). In the race one poor sod broke his arm but was real brave and wouldn't let the race be stopped. That's the spirit. One of our guys smashed his teeth and got a tyre mark on his neck but is fine. He was on #8 at the time. Old smokey was blowin a great white cloud out the back and I could hear those behind coughing (I used a ltr of oil into the exhaust). With no mud this year the speed has gone up'n'up so we were flyin so it was inevitable we all had some moments. Oh did I say one of the racers had an out-fit with a passenger!!!. It was C90 based but was an obstacle in itself!! Great larf tho!.
We parked up at 9am, got the Van parked and the gazebo up. BBQ on, Tea brewing. Check out the peds. Ah C90 needs chain. No probs but we forgot the spanners. JP says it wasn't on the list!!!!!. Nay mind we have tie-wraps and gaffa tape. All fixed, all pass scrutineering and off we go. Davie's doin stunts in the paddock making the 'real' performers look like s--t. We gotta get him a show. 180's, burn-outs, wheelies, stoppies etc.
Here are some of the pics:
